After a long year, you’ll be itching to get out and explore your city. At Onyx, we’ve compiled a list of must-do bucket list activities for your summer in Tallahassee.
Explore Railroad Square Art Park
This former lumber yard has been transformed into an industrial business park that serves as a haven for art students. You can watch the resident artists as they create, enjoy live music, play a few rounds of pinball at an authentic arcade, work out at the largest rock climbing gym in the region, and much more. Railroad Square features so many activities, you might need to spread out your visit over several days.
Visit The Downtown Market
The Downtown Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the summer. In addition to sampling farm-fresh produce, breads, and cheeses, you can enjoy the music of local musicians, admire the work of local artists, and listen to poetry readings. You can even munch on prepared food for your lunch. This unique farmer’s market is a must-do activity from spring through fall.
Take A Walk At Lake Ella And Fred Drake Park
This public park is located just outside of downtown Tallahassee and features fountains, walking trails, and picnic areas, as well as a paved walkway perfect for bicycling. Duck inside the renovated former honeymoon cottages surrounding the area and gather the ingredients for a picnic to enjoy with a friend by the lake.
Get A Treetop View At The Tallahassee Museum
The word “museum” might bring dry art exhibits to mind, but don’t be fooled. One of the most popular attractions at the Tallahassee Museum is the Tree-to-Tree Adventures zipline course, which offers challenging obstacles like rope swings and bridges. If heights aren’t your thing, you can still enjoy the wildlife exhibits and butterfly garden. Even if you aren’t usually a museum fan, this experience will stand out.
These summer bucket list activities will make every day seem like an adventure, and this list doesn’t even scratch the surface of all there is to do in Tallahassee. Follow the Onyx blog for even more ideas.
