As the calendar shifts into a new season, here at Onyx, you’ll find yourself in the center of everything Tallahassee has to offer. And we know you’ll want to ring in spring in a way that’s outside the box and as unique as you are. Here are our top suggestions for celebrating spring in T-Town.
Have a Laugh & Get in Shape with Goat Yoga
Tallahassee’s Goat House Farm has made a name for itself as one of the most unique yoga experiences in the city. Yes, you’ll be performing asanas while goats wander across your mat. This is a great way to relieve stress and have a laugh. They typically host two classes per month. Purchase tickets ahead of time (students get a 10% discount) and be prepared to get dirty! Best of all, it’s less than 20 miles from Onyx and Florida State University.
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with an Irish Cooking Class
While everyone else is downing questionable-looking green beverages, you’ll be learning how to make incredible fusion dishes with an Irish twist – mini Reuben egg rolls, beefy cottage hand pies, Irish lamb nachos, and bite-sized Irish apple cakes. Aprons Cooking School offers this class on March 17, where you’ll work with professional chefs to create these amazing treats. And if you can’t make this class, hit up their Sushi 101 primer the next day. Just be sure to purchase your ticket ahead of time. And if you miss the boat on either session, keep an eye on the Aprons Cooking School calendar for more fun classes.
Meet That Someone Special
They say spring inspires new love. You can test that theory with Tallahassee Video Speed Dating. This free monthly event will schedule you for three 90-second dates. Leave those awkward, long first dates in the past and enjoy a taste of modern, virtual dating. You just might find the perfect spring match.
Have a Milkshake for Brunch at Lofty Pursuits
This eatery north of Onyx and FSU is a Florida favorite, evolving over the years from a toy shop (think darts and yo-yos, not video games), to a soda fountain, to a restaurant famous for serving sweet treats for breakfast and brunch. Sure, you can get eggs and bacon, but you’re celebrating the arrival of spring – how about a little indulgence in the form of chocolate chip pancakes and a toasted marshmallow milkshake? They even have vegan options. Dine outdoors on the patio or take it back to Onyx with their curbside pickup service.
And if you’d rather stay home and chill, whip up a smoothie in your Euro-inspired kitchen at Onyx and settle into your sofa for a day of catching up on your favorite TV shows.
